THE LUCKY FOUR
We partnered with Bike EXIF and four of the world's leading helmet artists—Hello Cousteau, Vaim.me, Papeel and Tagger Designs—to offer the chance to co-create your own custom NEXX X.G100 Racer helmet. Four winners were chosen at the end of September: Gregory Wright, Roman Garza, Bruno Vanzieleghem and Roland Schigas. They gave their input, and the designers worked their magic. The works below are the final, co-created NEXX X.G100 Racer helmets.

Bruno was a fan of Hello Cousteau’s collection of work inspired by the 80's and 90's F1 cars, and the two worked to create a look that hearkened to the era: “I grew up going to Spa [Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps] as a kid (I was born and raised in Belgium) to watch F1 and touring car racing in the 80 and 90's, so those hit a nostalgic cord. My favorite racing livery goes back to the 70s and the Lotus John Player Special cars. And if I were to ever have the money to collect cars, it would probably all be 70 and 80's era rally cars (Stratos, Renault 5 Turbo, Delta Integrale, Ford RS200 and Escort Cosworth, etc.).” Hello Cousteau created a minimalist and striking ode to this era of racing.

For his helmet, Roland provided VAim with a "Sea to Sky" as a theme. “One of my favorite rides is from Vancouver to Squamish on the Sea To Sky Highway here in British Columbia. I sent her a link to a video of a group ride on the S2S, so that she had an idea how the highway winds along the coast with Howe Sound on one side and the peaks of the Britannia Range on the other. We discussed including fish and birds representing these aspects of the ride (ocean and mountains, respectively).” VAim’s choice of colors and imagery brought the two worlds together in a graphically fluid final design.

Greg was looking for a helmet with Nordic/Viking influences, done in Papeel’s signature graphic black-and-white style: “Nordic imagery and mythology have always been of interest to me. I was married in Iceland by a Nordic chieftain, my tattoos are done in a Nordic/Celtic style, and the motorcycle build I'm working on (a 1982 Honda CX500c) is called 'Valkyrie’. I suggested that she include a wolf and a raven because they match my tattoos, but she was otherwise free to incorporate the 'Viking' theme in any way she wanted.” Papeel hand-painted the theme onto the helmet with bright flashes of gold incorporated with the black and white. “She did an amazing job of integrating the theme with her style, and I couldn't be happier with how it came out.”

Roman asked Tag to create a helmet that would pay homage to two of the most important things in his moto world: A local motorcycling group, and his own bike. “I started a group in San Diego called the San Diego Twos, and my own bike’s name is ‘Trashpanda’.” The final design incorporated text with imagery of a raccoon, in the Tagger Designs’ colorful, graffiti-like style.
The X.G100 R (RACER) is a modern re-issue of the legendary racing helmets from the 70s. The retro, round shell is fitted with a smooth-lifting shield that snaps firmly into place whether you need the visor fully open, cracked, or closed tightly into place against wind or rain. The proprietary X-Matrix shell offers a strength to weight ratio previously unheard of in a retro helmet, and the underlying X.Mart Dry liner and chin vent round out the package. The X.G100 R is the most comfortable and best-performing helmet of its style.
